Strip Search Complaint Dismissed

A complaint against two Chatham-Kent police officers under the Police Services Act has been dismissed. The allegations that two officers went too far in strip searching a suspect in a drug case were made last October and a police hearing was held in April.

"Two officers were served notice of hearing under the Police Services Act but both officers were found not guilty of any wrongdoing," says Police Chief Gary Conn.
He adds the strip search was conducted on a female suspect by a female officer. "When you are dealing with drugs, it is usually a more thorough search than just a protective pat-down."
Conn made the issue public before the Chatham-Kent Police Service Board, noting it was a matter of public record.
