Environment Canada has ended a tornado watch for Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent.
Meteorologist Peter Kimbell says conditions were favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms, which may produce tornadoes.
"We expect that there could be more thunderstorms this afternoon, which could become severe. Because of the instability and the amount of wind shear in the atmosphere, they could potentially become tornadic."
Kimbell says they will keep a close eye on radar through the day, and will increase the watch to a warning if rotation is spotted.
