Technology Upgrades Part Of Budget

Trustees with the Lambton Kent District School Board have approved a budget of almost $263-million, as administration projects a further drop of about 183 students.

Chair Scott McKinlay says the budget allows for a multi-year upgrade in computers and technology infrastructure.

"Bandwith and what have you and the availability of access, and the problem we have is some of those technology and the problem we have is some of the technology has reached the end of its usefulness," he says. "It's a necessity to upgrade hardware, we do have a fibre optic cable we put in a few years ago but now we are upgrading all the background stuff."

The total budget for the project is $4.6-million. The budget next year includes $1.7-million for the second phase.
