The Victorian Order Of Nurses is making a push for volunteers in a variety of disciplines.
Interested helpers can serve as members of the board of directors, spend time with palliative patients and teach fall prevention programming.
District Executive Director Andrew Ward says volunteers should have an open heart when they begin. "It's really just about socialization for seniors. Anyone who wants to lend a hand to go through our programming and help seniors within our community then that's an option as well."
Volunteer hours can be as little as one to three hours per week. Some volunteers help out for more than 20 hours weekly.
