No Arrests in Fatal Stabbing

A man taken into custody after London's third homicide of 2015 has been released and London police there are no suspects at this time.

Jesse Scott James, 23, was stabbed several times on Richmond St. between Dundas St. and King St. at around 11:30pm Friday.

The owner of a nearby bar, his staff, and a nurse who happened to be passing by, tried to help the victim, who died shortly after arriving at hospital. Jim Ferriera owns the Grinning Gator. He says he was in a state of disbelief.

“Literately within seconds, I just saw one man take another person’s life. He was having a hard time breathing… that’s when myself and my (staff) did everything we could to keep him alive. And all we could think of (to say) was ‘fight for your life, you have so much to live for.'”

Ferriera says he later gave police surveillance footage of the violent incident that shows a man and a woman attack James. Ferriera says the video shows a short fight before the victim is stabbed several times.

Investigators say it was a targeted attack and there's no danger to the public. A man in his twenties who was taken into custody has been released without charges.

Witnesses are asked to call London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
