UPDATE: ETFO Announces Work To Rule

The Elementary Teachers’ Federation Of Ontario has set a “work to rule” notice for public elementary teachers across the province.

Talks between unions and the province have hit a snag, with both sides unable to reach a deal after eight months of bargaining.

However, LKDSB Director of Education Jim Costello says students will still be learning in the classroom, at least for the foreseeable future. "For parents right now, the news is as good as it can be. The day-to-day student life and classroom experience will be unchanged. Our schools will be open on Monday and programs will continue."

The first stage of work to rule action will see teachers continue extra-curricular activities, as well as events like school trips. But provincial requirements like the full completion of report cards and EQAO testing will not be conducted until further notice.
