Fuel Dumped On Chatham Business

A 51-year-old Chatham man is once again in hot water with the law after some fuel was dumped on a local business.

Police responded to a mischief complaint at a Grand Ave. business on Sunday. A man known to police was observed on surveillance video dumping diesel fuel all over the complainant's property, after he was asked to leave earlier in the day. Police went to talk to the man, where he's under house arrest, but wasn't home.

Officers spotted the suspect riding a bike in downtown Chatham yesterday and after a brief chase, were able to make the arrest. It turns out the bike was reported stolen last month.

The man has now been charged with two counts of breaching probation, mischief under $5,000, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
