Design Stage For Water Line

Chatham-Kent PUC is preparing for a Kent Bridge greenhouse to double its size.

The project requires a new pipeline to bring water south from Base Line Rd. Area manager Tim Sunderland says the PUC has approved an engineering study to design the project and once that is done, it can be tendered.

"To supply Greenhill Produce Greenhouses with a water supply, they do have a water supply currently, we are just trying to improve it so they can expand," he says. "We are designing over-sizing to facilitate residential hookups and possible future greenhouse growth."

The PUC has set aside $160,000 for the engineering study. The total cost of the pipeline is estimated at $2,033,640 with Greenhill paying about $1,204,138.

Homeowners along the route would only have to pay into the project if they're hooked in.
