Visitation for a hockey legend who called Windsor home will be held today.
Marcel Pronovost, who played for the Detroit Red Wings and the Toronto Maple Leafs, and was a scout for the New Jersey Devils, passed away on Sunday, he was 84.
"He liked to call Windsor his adopted hometown," says Bob Duff, sports columnist for the Windsor Star, who wrote a book with the hockey legend. "He came here to play junior with the Spitfires and basically spent most of the rest of his life living in the city. He was here as a player, and then after he made the Red Wings and got married, he and his wife bought a home in Windsor and made Windsor their home."
Pronovost won eight Stanley Cups, five as a player with the Wings and Leafs, and three in management with the Devils.
Visitation will be held Thursday at Families First Funeral Home on Dougall Ave. from 2pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm.
The funeral will take place on Friday at Our Lady Mount Caramel Church at 10:30am. For more details, click here.
