Chatham-Kent police, fire, and emergency crews are encouraging blood donations in the month of April.
The clinic taking place at St. Joseph's Spirit and Life Centre in Chatham is the largest in southwestern Ontario.
Chatham-Kent Police Service Constable Doug Cowell says taking an hour out of their day give blood is a no-brainer. "We see it at work each day, whether it's accidents, or even when you hear about things like cancer treatments. It doesn't cost anything, except your time, to give back. And some time, you yourself will need it."
Constables Doug and Renee Cowell helped spark the initiative in memory of their daughter Bailey, who died after a heart transplant. This is also the first year for OneMatch, which is a network of stem cell patients and donors.
