Both the mother and father of a baby abandoned in the driveway of a London home are now facing charges.
The eight-week-old baby boy was found on Emery St. by a neighbour around 5:40am on Tuesday. Anthony Franze, the man who made the discovery, says he heard a noise coming from his neighbour's driveway on Emery St., and found the child in a car seat, which was covered in frost.
He called police and the child was taken to the hospital, medically cleared and then placed in the care of the Children's Aid Society.
Police say the child's mother had been arrested by police around 1:48am for impaired driving by drug in the area of Wellington Rd. and Grey St.
Investigators say the mother put the baby in the driveway before driving away from the house. It is unclear at what time she left, but police say they have no reason to believe she did not drive straight to the area where she was arrested.
Megan Sproul, 31, of London faces charges of failing to provide the necessaries of life and abandoning a child. She will appear in court on April 9.
When officers were checking the home where the child had been found, they discovered the father asleep inside. He was bound by a probation order to not be at the home and not to consume alcohol. He was arrested for violating his probation order.
Craig Lush, 31, of St. Thomas faces two charges of breaching a probation order. He will appear in court on April 1.
The investigation is on-going.
