Students at Tecumseh Public School in Chatham will be able to see some of their ideas come to life thanks to new funding from a technology grant.
The school is receiving nearly $20,000 through a program sponsored by Future Shop. Grade 8 teacher Colin Pattison says that money will help support an after-school workshop where students can use equipment like robotics kits and 3D printers.
"They can actually start prototyping and asking questions like 'Is this something that could work?' and 'How much would it cost me to produce it?'" says Pattison. "By putting tools like robotics kits in their hands, they can actually start working with real versions of those products and see how they operate."
Pattison says their plan is to purchase new equipment and start using it as soon as possible.
