YMCA Increases Financial Assistance Goal

The need for financial assistance at Chatham-Kent's YMCA is growing.

That's why the YMCA is raising the bar for its Strong Kids Campaign goal. Communications Manager for Southwestern Ontario Gerry Gillis says they'll look to raise $106,000 this year, $21,000 more than last year.

"All ages benefit from this campaign, whether it's children, teens, young adults, or families," says Gillis. "If it's a single mother that requires help with childcare or if it's a child that can't afford organized sports, this is where all the funds go."

TekSavvy kicked-off the 2015 campaign launch in Chatham this morning with a $15,000 donation. Last year's campaign goal was $85,000, with $95,000 raised. All funds raised in Chatham-Kent stay in the community.
