Text Message Sparks Heated Argument

A 19-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly smashing his girlfriend's cell phone and holding a kitchen knife to her throat.

Chatham-Kent police officers showed up at the residence after someone called in a noise complaint late Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the man smashed his girlfriend's phone after an argument over a text message she received.

A Harwich man is charged with weapons dangerous, assault with a weapon, and mischief.
