CKHA Welcomes End To Strike

With CCAC workers getting back on the job, the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is looking forward to things getting back to normal.

But according to CKHA Vice President and Chief Nursing Executive Willie Kirenko, the hospital didn't feel as big an impact as they expected.

Kirenko says this is because staff worked with CCAC reps to prepare them for a potential work stoppage. They also continued dialogue with the CCAC, as well as the local LHIN, during the strike itself.

She adds they didn't get any complaints from outgoing patients. "There was no impact felt in the emergency department, nor with our in-patient care areas. Our patients were discharged recieving referrals to CCAC services and things went very well."

CCAC workers had been on strike since January 30.
