Home sales in Chatham-Kent are up 22.4% in January year-over-year.
The Chatham-Kent Association of Realtors reports 60 homes sold last month. However, association President Jamie Winkler says the jump shows a return to normal sales after a rough start to 2014.
"It's important to remember that the market was really hammered by bad weather last January, so the big year-over-year gains in sales and new listings this January simply reflect a return to normal this year," says Winkler.
He adds January 2015 sales were right in line with the five and ten-year averages for the month.
The average price of homes sold last month was $151,352, up 2.4% from January 2014.
