The Windsor Police Services Board is looking to fast track the appeal of former city police constable Dorothy Nesbeth.
The board is sending a letter to the Ontario Civilian Police Commission asking to have the appeal heard as soon as possible.
Vice-Chair Jo-Anne Gignac feels it's an appropriate measure after Nesbeth was paid nearly $400,000 while on suspension for four years.
"Definitely, the community has spoke loud and clear in terms of this issue and the responisbility of police services to pay constables while they're off duty," says Gignac. "If we can get this expedited in any way, I think it's incumbent upon us to make that request."
Nesbeth is appealing after being fired on December 19 for failing to declare a large quantity of alcohol at the border in July of 2010.
