A Highbury Canco vice president says the company is hoping to add 15 new jobs soon.
"We're here to stay and we're here to grow," says Krueger, vice president of the supply chain at the company.
The company is looking at adding new products which would mean more bodies needed on the factory floor. Kreuger doesn't have specific timelines as it relates to the new products or new jobs. However, he adds the company is in the early stages of finding a way to start processing tomato paste.
"We have the capacity, we have the assets that could produce paste in the future. We would like to do that, to sell to prospective customers if we can make the economics work," says Krueger. "We want to be very aggressive. Volume is really going to help us."
The company shipped its first product out of the former Heinz factory in Leamingotn on July 2 after taking over the facility on June 27 of this year. Highbury Canco currently produces tomato juice, canned beans and canned pastas for Heinz.
