Grandparent Scheme Hits CK

Chatham-Kent police are warning that the grandparent scam has targeted a local woman.

The 75-year-old woman had a call from a man claiming to be a lawyer representing her grandson, and claiming he was in jail in Quebec after a collision.

She wired him the $1,474 he said was needed to set bail but became suspicious when he called back asking for more money for car repairs.

Police are reminding the public to never send money or personal information to strangers and if you get a call from someone about a family member, check the story out with other family members.
