Blades Cut Down Lakers In Shootout

The Wallaceburg Lakers fell 6-5 to the Blenheim Blades in a shootout on Thursday.

The Lakers scored two unanswered goals in the first period, but it was in the second that the Blades found their momentum. Blenheim scored four goals in the second over another two from the Lakers to tie the game 4-4. Both teams scored again in the third to force overtime. After no scoring in OT, the Blades came out the winners in a shootout.

Lakers forward Matt Clark and Blades forward Teddy McGeen were the top scorers for their teams with two goals each.

Cory Lucier, Trevor Waller and Brendan Ritchie each scored one for Wallaceburg, while Blair Derynck, Matt Clark and Dylan Smith scored one each for Blenheim. Derek Muzzatti and Austin Bentley also scored one each during the shootout to win the game for the Blades.

The Lakers are back on the ice on Saturday at 7pm to take on the Wheatley Sharks, while the Blades take on the Sharks on Sunday at 7:15pm.
