Paramedicine Pilot Program Coming

A paramedicine pilot program is on its way to Chatham-Kent.

The two-year program is being funded by the province, and is aimed at providing in-home care. Emergency Medical Services Co-ordinator Alan DeVillaer says it will take stress off patients, family members, and hospital staff.

"This helps with seniors in their homes that may have some mobility or transportation issues," says DeVillaer. "It also is made to address overload at the emergency departments, the congestion that happens there, and the number of beds at the hospital."

Chatham-Kent will receive $212,000 in funding the first year of the program and just over $80,000 the second year.
