NDP Prepare For Federal Election

The New Democratic Party of Canada is getting a jump start on next year's federal election by filling a vacant candidacy for the riding of Chatham-Kent-Leamington.

Tony Walsh went unopposed for the spot and was acclaimed Saturday in a room full of supporters at the W.I.S.H. Centre in Chatham-Kent.

Walsh was born in Regina, SK and moved to Chatham-Kent in 2003. He has a background in business, working at TD Bank for a number of years and is currently a director at the Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce. "I realized that people aren't happy with what's going on currently. This is throughout all of Canada and certainly in Chatham-Kent and Leamington," says Walsh. "I think that I can make a difference. I'm here, I'm ready to listen and I want to know what's important and I will bring that up. I will make sure you're heard."

Unless the writ is dropped sooner, the federal election is schedule for October 19, 2015.
