Provincial delegates of the Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario met in Waterloo this week for the CFFO’s Annual Meeting.
Clarence Nywening was acclaimed for his fourth one-year term as CFFO President.
In his address, Nywening praised recent government support for agri-businesses through red tape reduction efforts, but reminded listeners that changes should not come at the cost of lowering Ontarians’ environmental and social expectations.
Nywening looks forward to representing the CFFO in working with government to promote a thriving agricultural sector.
“As we continue to work together,” said Nywening, “I am certain we will be able to accomplish much in the year to come.”
Delegates, made up of CFFO district board members, voted in Ed Scharringa as Vice-President. Scharringa previously held the position of Director on the Executive Board.
John Kikkert, John Bos and Bethanee Jensen were elected to Director seats. Jensen returns to the board after a one-year hiatus.
CFFO members also participated in Farm & Food Care Ontario’s Speak Up! workshop, where they were coached through ways to hold effective conversations around agriculture.
