The Ontario Federation of Agriculture officially acclaimed Keith Currie as OFA President for another one-year term.
Delegates at the Annual General Meeting also elected Hugh Simpson as Director-at-Large for a three-year term on the OFA Board of Directors.
The OFA also handed out some $2,000 bursaries.
Kirkton's Lauren Benoit is a junior partner in her family’s grain farm where she’s responsible for crop marketing strategies. She’s completing her Masters of Science in Plant Agriculture at the University of Guelph, focusing on the control of multiple-resistant common waterhemp in corn, and she’s a member of the Grain Farmers of Ontario research and innovation subcommittee. Lauren intends to continue her work on the family farm integrating precision agriculture to reduce the farm’s environmental footprint.
OFA president Keith Currie says the bursaries are an investment in future farm leaders and advocates.
The two other recipients are Tamara Hamilton from Russell in eastern Ontario and Megan Wright from Midhurst.
Both are University of Guelph students as well.
