Ottawa and Manitoba say they will spend 1.4 million dollars to expand dairy research at the University of Manitoba.
The money will allow the university to expand its dairy facility and install a new automated milking system and other upgrades.
The hope is the project will ensure the facility will meet industry standards and support the growth of value-added dairy processing in Manitoba. The project is expected to go to tender later this year.
The dairy industry in Manitoba generates more 250 million dollars in farm gate revenues.
