Canadian Organic Production Record High But Still Not Enough

Organic production in Canada continues to expand to record highs.

Owen Roberts of Farm Credit Canada notes the amount of acreage used for growing organic products has hit 2.43 million acres.

He says that makes up about 1.5 per cent of all agricultural land.

However, he also reports the increase in land isn't keeping up with the increase in demand, as organic imports jumped by almost 37 per cent from 2012 to 2015 while land use only grew by 4.5 per cent.
