OFVPA President Ready To Move On With Negotiations

Opponents to the province's decision to dissolve the Ontario Processing Vegetable Growers Board and appoint a Trustee made their opinions heard during legislature on Tuesday.

Yesterday, the President of the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Processors Association reiterated the group's stance that the decision was valid.

Steve Lamoure says the previous leadership of the OPVG wasn't interested in finding solutions to the industry's problems.

He added a partner is needed to work with them to grow the industry, which will be a benefit to growers, processors and the Ontario economy.

Lamoure also stated that the OFVPA looks forward to working with former ag minister Elmer Buchanan, who was named Trustee of the OPVG board by current Ag Minister Jeff Leal.

He concluded that the prior issues are now in the past and the association is committed to finding solutions to help the industry thrive.
