Ontario Goat Asking Producers To Help Shape The Future

Ontario Goat says its been working with producers, processors and other industry partners on a long-term strategy and vision to help grow the industry in a sustainable manner.

The group is now asking goat milk producers across the province to help shape the future by participating in a "Producer Expression of Opinion" vote.

OG is seeking official designation as an association of producers to become a permanent representative farmer organization under Section 12 of the Ontario Farm Products Marketing Act.

President Anton Slingerland says right now is an exciting time in the industry and much has changed in recent years.

After much consultation, he feels everyone involved in the sector agrees a representative organization with a permanent governance and a funding structure is needed to move the industry forward.

OG notes Ontario's goat milk processors have also demonstrated support for the movement by forming the collaborative Goat Milk Processor Advisory Committee.

The vote takes place from today until March 10th.
