Canadian Pork Excellence Program Journeys To Japan

The Canadian Pork Council has brought the Canadian Pork Excellence Program to Japan.

CPC Executive Director John Ross says Canada's pork industry is committed to continually improving on-farm programs to keep our pork in a very competitive market.

He feels the program will provide transparency while giving Japan pork products which have garnered respect in the industry and gained market access internationally and domestically.

The council says the pork excellence program incorporates food safety, biosecurity, traceability and animal care.

Japan is now Canada's second-biggest pork buyer, approaching one billion dollars in annual sales.
