Canadian milk sales volumes in October were down from 2015, yet total dairy farm cash receipts were up.
Statistics Canada reports a 3.4 per cent decrease in the volume of milk and creme sold that month.
However, total farm cash receipts for the nation were up 5.8 per cent.
Cash receipts in Ontario had even bigger gains from a year ago, increasing 9.6 per cent.
StatsCan also notes cheddar cheese stocks to start November were down 2.2 per cent for the year, while process cheese stocks were up by 7.5 points.
