The USDA's Economic Research Service has Canada currently listed as America's second biggest agricultural supplier in its projections for the coming year.
Canadian ag products heading over our southern border are expected to increase slightly in 2017.
The department says the biggest growth is expected from oilseed products.
The USDA estimates Mexico, America's number one ag supplier, will send $500 million dollars less in products next year, thus closing the gap between Canadian and Mexican agricultural imports.
The service says the volatile peso is responsible for importers looking elsewhere.
Third on the list is the European Union.
The USDA expects to import the same amount of ag products in 2017 as it did this year, while imports from fourth-place Asia are expected to decrease by about $200 million as the U.S. is growing more of its own specialized Asian foods.
