TPP Paper Put Forth By Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound NDP

The Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound New Democratic Party has put a paper forth for federal consultation in regards to a potential Trans-Pacific Partnership.

The NDP's acknowledge that the agreement may benefit large livestock farmers but they're concerned for others who work in Bruce-Grey.

They feel the generalized rules laid out in the trade deal referring to Intellectual Property will hamper those in the area from building an innovative economy.

The submitted paper was written by David McLaren. He says most economists are worried about the return of manufacturing, making it difficult to base the economy on innovation.

He adds if Canada moves to an American way of doing innovation, as listed in the agreement, then it'll be much harder for the local economy to build goods and generate services for the rest of the world to buy.
