The recent warm weather across North America has helped those who got behind in harvesting soybeans and corn this fall to catch up.
The USDA reports American soybean harvest to now be 93 per cent complete. While that's a point back of last year's pace it's 2 per cent better than the five-year average.
Corn harvest south of border is still 5 per cent behind 2015, but at 86 per cent complete, it's now a full point ahead of the usual clip.
The warmth has also helped establish a solid crop of winter wheat for next year.
The department rates the condition of the crop at 58 per cent good to excellent. That's a 7 per cent improvement on last year.
The USDA also notes 79 per cent of planted winter wheat has emerged, which is slightly better than last year and the five-year average.
