Todd Austin, marketing manager, spoke on the supply and demand of Ontario wheat and Henry Van Ankum, District 10 director, spoke on research and innovation at the
farm level. Discussion was around the high quality that was seen across all classes of wheat this year.
This event was put together by the Grain Farmers of Ontario’s market development and wheat marketing departments. Market development works to achieve growth by expanding existing and premium markets for production and encourages novel new uses for Ontario grain.
As well, the Growing Connections trailer will be at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront
Marathon on October 14 and 15. Grain Farmers of Ontario will be sponsoring the food tent on race day, so that each participant gets a snack made with grain. This will be an
opportunity to educate urban audiences on Ontario grain. If you are not running, come by and visit the Growing Connections trailer.
