Wet Fall Slowing U.S. Soybean Harvest

The wet fall south of the border has hampered this year's soybean harvest.

The USDA says 44 per cent of the current crop is now off, which is 3 percent back of the five-year average and 12 per cent behind last year's pace.

The department rates the condition of remaining soybeans at 74 per cent good to excellent. That's right on par with last week and 10 points better than a year ago.

Corn continues to be rated at 73 per cent good to excellent, which is five per cent better than this week in 2015.

The American crop is now 35 per cent harvested -- 3 points slower than last year and the five year average.

Winter wheat planting is just 1 per cent behind last year and the recent average.

However, the USDA notes warm conditions have sped up emergence, as 34 per cent planted has already sprung up.

That's 5 per cent faster than last year and 4 per cent ahead of usual.
