The Ontario Chamber of Commerce wants to ensure the goals set by the government for the agri-food sector are achieved.
The OCC released a report with recommendations to address barriers for competing in the industry.
OCC President and CEO Allan O'Dette says stakeholders in the sector have told him that regulatory pressures are hampering their ability to remain competitive in the global marketplace.
He points out the provincial government's Red Tape Challenge has identified more than 170 regulations which need to be updated.
In 2013 Premier Wynne wanted to build on the strengths of the agri-food industry and announced plans of creating 120,000 jobs by 2020.
The OCC says it wants to work with the government to enhance competitiveness and get those goals back on track by next year's Ontario Agriculture Week.
