The Beef Farmers of Ontario report increases in beef prices across the board last week.
Fed steers were up $2.77 from the week before, fed heifers were up $3.22.
Both are still about 41 dollars lower than they were at this time last year.
BFO notes Ontario Railgrade prices jumped 10 dollars on the week.
They add cull cows were up an average of $3.19 as 76 less head were sold than the seven days prior. The 1,798 were also 311 less than what were sold in the same week a year ago.
Stocker and feeder cattle sales were up 385 on the week, but down 538 from 2015.
Kevin Grier of the Canadian Boxed Beef Report has good news for producers.
He says distributors feel the bottom has been hit and are now in the market to buy.
Grier adds beef was featured in more than 70 per cent of surveyed grocery flyer front pages.
