Analyzing Crops For Fortifiers

Soybean and corn harvests are soon here, silage and final cuts of hay are in progress.

As for the makeup of this year's crops following a prolonged drought, Grand Valley Fortifiers V.P. and Chief Marketing Officer David Ross says his team is busy, and should know specifics soon.

"This year we will be looking at the crops coming off the field shortly and analyzing them. We will then make recommendations to the producer, to the farmer on the neccessary vitamins and minerals needed to fortify their ration," says Ross.

Ross notes fortifiers are a mainstay in rations of all commercial producers.

He adds they're getting more efficient with research.

Fortifier rations that used 40 kg a tonne in years past may now only need 32 kg.

The V.P. says that equals easy savings for farmers.
