Stocker and Feeder Cattle Markets Steady

Beef Farmers of Ontario says stocker and feeder cattle ended the week with fully steady and stronger prices.

243 more head were sold than last week, which is still more than 200 less than the same week last year.

BFO notes a decrease in cull cows sold, down 90 from the week before and 631 less than in 2015.

Cull cow prices were down $2.08 from last week and more than 33 dollars from a year ago.

The week ended with prices 2 to 3 dollars lower from fed steer and heifers.

BFO reports the 559 head were up 87 from a week ago and 63 more than this time last year.

And the Ontario Railgrade Market saw prices declining throughout the week.

Market pressure led to a $10.50 dip in average prices on the week, down $79.50 from last year's average.
