New Ontario Group Seeks To Avoid Impractical Solutions To Ag-Related Issues

Some major Ontario commodity groups have come together for a new approach to addressing public concerns.

Grow Ontario Together has been formed as a collaborative effort of organisations like Ontario Pork, Beef Farmers of Ontario, and Grain Farmers of Ontario – just to name a few.

They’re hoping to identify public issues and address them with farmers at the grassroots level, before producers get forced into solutions that may not be practical.

The group feels while their goals are often similar to those of the government, the route to get there isn’t always the same.

Grow Ontario Together Chair Amy Cronin says it’s important to have everyone on the same page.

Cronin says although the new model was created to address phosphorus run-off, it can be expanded to take on many different issues.
