Sarnia Bio Plant Boosting Production, Cutting Costs

The company running that bio-succinic acid plant in Sarnia reported a gross loss for the most recent quarter of 1 million dollars.

That's 600 thousand dollars less than the loss the company reported for the first quarter.

The BioAmber plant uses corn as a feedstock for that plant.

CEO Jean-Francois Huc says they're continuing to increase production and drive down unit costs at the Sarnia plant.

He says they've managed to cut the cost per ton 30 per cent from the previous quarter.

The Sarnia plant's revenues for the second quarter were up 73 per cent over the previous quarter - an increase BioAmber attributes entirely to the operation's volume growth.
