The Ontario Beekeepers Association wants the Chair of the Canadian Honey Council replaced.
OBA President Tibor Szabo says the Council needs to elect a new chair who will unify the national organisation.
The Ontario group is upset with an article authored by CHC Chair Kevin Nixon of Alberta in an industry publication.
In the article, Nixon questions why the OBA continues to be a member of the CHC yet acts independent of the national group.
He also suggests the Ontario group seems to operate on ideological principles and actions which contradict the CHC.
Nixon's article is critical of what he calls the OBA being stuck on neonics as the single cause of bee losses.
The Ontario Beekeepers Association president argues Nixon's comments raise serious issues as to his qualifications to lead the council.
Szabo agrees neonics are not the only bee health issue the industry faces - but suggests it is the one they have the power to change through reasonable regulatory policy or legislation.
The OBA president also says the over-use of neonics is creating havoc in Quebec and Ontario, representing more than 50 per cent of the country's beekeepers.
Szabo says the industry needs a unified organisation and principled leadership - something he suggests Nixon is unqualified to provide.
