Walton Farm Equipment Dealership Celebrates 80 Years In Business

McGavin's Farm Equipment in Walton celebrated 80 years of serving the community on Friday.

Neil McGavin is now retired but says the business and the community were great for him and the business.

He adds it's a good thing his sons took over the business because he still comes in every day just to talk to the people that come into the showroom.

McGavin adds the equipment has changed significantly over the years.

He suggests they've made it larger so old people like him can't drive it.

He also says you can quickly see who has GPS planting in their machines because they drive through the field talking on their phone and leave a perfectly straight line while his is a little less than straight.

McGavin says over the years the people he's met have made all the difference and he says they have the best customer base you could ask for.

He also thanked CKNX for their support over the years.

McGavin explains that his father and Doc Cruickshank were good friends and they were advertising on CKNX when a lot of people said radio didn't work.

He says people came into their showroom from all over the area and mentioned they heard about McGavins on the radio and he says CKNX was great for their business.
