A new photo contest has been launched to help promote food literacy.
The Photo My Food contest is part of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture's Six by Sixteen initiative.
It encourages young people to find a recipe on the Six by Sixteen website, make it at home, take a picture of it and post it on the site for a chance to win an iPad mini.
The Six by Sixteen website is a hub for the resources of the more than 20 industry partners involved in the project.
The goal is to teach young people to plan and prepare six nutritious, locally-sources meals by the time they're 16 years old.
The OFA's Neil Currie says the Federation believes food literacy needs to start at a young age.
The Photo My Food contest was launched at an event at the Thorold Secondary School in Thorold this week.
The website is Sixbysixteen.me.
