The USDA says total U-S red meat and poultry production will be higher in 2017 than this year.
In response to that, the department has lowered it's projected prices for fed cattle, hogs, broilers and turkeys for next year.
The 2017 production forecast includes the expectation of more fed cattle and hog marketings with heavier carcass weights for both.
The department is also forecasting higher broiler and turkey production next year.
The USDA's 2017 average steer price forecast is from 118-128 dollars per hundredweight - down from this year's expected 124-129 dollars.
The average barrow and gilt price for next year is expected to range from $42-46 per hundredweight - compared to this year's expected 46-48 dollar range.
