The Chair of the Soil Conservation Council of Canada says soil conservation is more than making the land more productive.
Paul Thoroughgood says producers see their farms as directly linked with issues such as greenhouse gas emissions, water and air quality and biodiversity.
National Soil Conservation Week runs April 17th to the 23rd.
As part of that, the Council is running a photo contest focuses on the themes of soil, water, air and biodiversity as they relate to healthy agricultural landscapes in Canada.
Details on that contest are on the website - www.soilcc.ca.
