Environment Minister 'Ignoring Science' On Neonic Issue

Liberals and Conservatives at Queen's Park are accusing each other of cherry picking science on the neonic issue.

Huron-Bruce Conservative Lisa Thompson accused Environment Minister Glen Murray of ignoring findings released by environmental regulators and experts in both the U-S and Canada.

Thompson says those findings suggest at least one neonic - imidacloprid - poses no potential risks for bees.

The minister suggested Thompson was cherry picking science on the issue, saying other reports prompted the government's new restrictions on the use of neonic treated seeds.

The Conservative provincial opposition is calling for a science-based approach to neonics.
