Summary Tuesday Fed steers and heifers sold on a strong active trade at prices $1-2 higher. Choice strs and hfrs 173.00 – 177.00 sales to 191.25. Second cut 168.00 – 173.00. Cows sold on a steady market. Thursday Veal calves sold steady to slightly stronger. Lambs sold on a good active trade with heavy lambs selling higher. Sheep sold steady. Kid goats sold higher while nannies were slightly lower. Friday Grass type calves sold actively at higher prices while fleshier calves and yearlings sold under pressure.
Steers
Chris Smith of Brussels consigned 6 steers that averaged 1569 lbs and sold for an average price of 188.32. Three limo steers averaged 1562 lbs and sold to Bruno’s Meat Distributors for an average price of 191.25.
Shellie Smith of Brussels consigned 8 steers that averaged 1630 lbs and sold for an average price of 183.35. One limo steer weighed 1570 lbs and sold to Bruno’s Meat Distributors for 190.00.
Heifers
Southlore Farms Inc of Palmerston consigned 12 cattle that averaged 1578 lbs and sold for an average price of 172.51. One black heifer weighed 1290 lbs and sold to Ryding Regency for 189.50.
George Roney of Staffa consigned 10 heifers that averaged 1349 lbs and sold for an average price of 175.01. Two red heifers averaged 1400 lbs and sold to Norwich Packers for an average price of 179.50.
