Last week, Grain Farmers of Ontario was involved in the 2016 Soy Canada trade mission to South Korea and Japan.

Delegates from the Canadian soybean industry, including Grain Farmers of Ontario Chair Mark Brock and Manager of Market Development Nicole Mackellar attended meetings with a number of soyfood associations and government agencies in both countries.
South Korea is a new market for Canadian soybeans, with duty free access becoming available after signing the Canada-Korea Free Trade Agreement.
To date, Canada has exported around 10,000 metric tonnes per year of food grade, non-GM soybeans to that market. While Japan continues to be the largest market for Canadian and Ontario food grade, non-GM soybeans, with over 300,000 metric tonnes exported each year.
During the trip, Mark Brock gave a presentation on Ontario farmers’ commitment to environmental sustainability at the Canadian soybean industry seminar in Tokyo, Japan.
