Results from the National Sow Housing Conversion Project are now being posted on-line.
The four-year project is documenting barn conversions and existing group housing systems across Canada.
It's ultimate goal is to smooth the transition to group housing for the country's hog producers.
Part of the project involves following four barns from planning to completion, documenting construction plans, costs, management decisions and staff training.
It will also look at 10 farms from across the country, including both new barns and renovated sites, that are already using group housing.
That will demonstrate group housing in a greater diversity of locations, herd sizes and housing systems to give a broader sense of the housing and management options available to hog producers.
The National Sow Housing Conversion Project is jointly funded by government and industry.
